DESIGN BRIEF

The WealthTech team rolled into our offices on a Thursday morning with a product they said was almost ready.  They just wanted to “make it aesthetically pleasing”.

Then Yuvraj Thakker, the director said: “Guys, if you’ve invested in Fixed Deposits, you’re losing money. But you probably didn’t know that.”

He was right, we didn’t. “That’s why we’re building a marketplace where professional fund managers can put up funds that you can invest in,” he continued.  “They’re there to help you, you’re there to make money, and we’re on a screen in your pocket.”

We spent the next hour discussing how we could help them do that. By the end of the conversation, WealthTech realised that what we did wasn’t just about making things look good. Design was also problem-solving with a clear purpose.

They also realised they would have to revisit their launch schedule.

Over the next few months, we had plenty of conversations with the WealthDesk team regarding the principles that the product would be built on, the features it would have, and what the product roadmap looked like.

New investors need careful guidance and transparency was extremely important to WealthDesk. This principle was written into most of the app's features. Not only did we aim for crystal clear communication, people were given the choice to try WealthDesk for 30 days with virtual currency. We created simulations of a real-life experiences to help them understand what the actual process would be like.

Since fund managers could revise a fund’s composition at any time, and this was a time-sensitive matter, we added an auto-update feature. Fund revisions are auto-approved and can be controlled per fund.

We made it simple for investors to change allocation of capital at any point of time and gave them extreme flexibility to do so.
