ABOUT THOUGHT OVER DESIGN

We're on a mission to build brands with purpose. Over the last 12 years, we’ve worked with a wide spectrum of exciting brands with a fresh point of view and grown into a thriving team of creatives and strategists.

We’re looking for an Account Director who can bring structure, perspective, and empathy to the creative process - someone who understands the nuances of brand strategy, design, and client relationships.

A QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

At Thought Over Design, the role of an Account Director goes far beyond opps. You'd play a critical role representing both the client’s objectives and the creative team’s best interests.

You’ll own projects end to end, helping protect the creative process by managing expectations, timelines, and budgets. You’d be instrumental in creating the conditions for great work ensuring every project is delivered thoughtfully, collaboratively, and successfully.

If you're passionate about overseeing design processes, enjoy working with innovative brands, and love bringing projects to life efficiently and effectively, let’s connect!

Project Leadership

  • Own projects end-to-end and set up systems that keep everyone moving in sync: designers, strategists, collaborators, clients.

  • Unpack client briefs and translate them into clear actions.

  • Build thoughtful workflows that balance creativity with effective processes.

  • Manage key operations on multiple projects: scope, timelines, deliverables, billings, feedback, bottlenecks, third party collaborators and so on.

  • Keep projects satisfactorily moving through key milestones: kickoffs, presentations, alignment calls, feedback reviews, retrospectives.

  • Maintain regular visibility on project health, commercials, bandwidth and overheads for both team and leadership.

Client Stewardship

  • Be steady, trusted link between clients and the studio - Understand where they come from and represent TOD with warmth, clarity, and a POV.

  • Turn client expectations into clean, actionable next steps.

  • Build long-term relationships that feel warm, reliable, and genuinely collaborative. Set expectations, clarify boundaries and lead open, constructive communication at all points.

Internal Team Momentum and Leadership

  • Support the team with structure, prioritisation, and clarity, helping them do their best work.

  • Align strategy, design, and operations around shared priorities.

  • Turn chaos, feedback, and shifting priorities into clear next steps.

  • Guide junior Project Managers to grow; coach on clarity and communication.

  • Plan resourcing and support staffing decisions with leadership.

Studio Ownership

  • From scoping new requests to managing collaborators to coordinating timely billing, payments and invoices, you’ll keep all the moving parts aligned, updated and transparent.

  • Enable commercial viability and success with well-defined SOWs, estimates, and timely collections. Lead project renewals and extensions by identifying genuine opportunities.

  • Track budgets, forecast risks and bottlenecks, and keep financial hygiene tight.

  • Plan and lead external activities - shoots, production, client meetups.

  • Manage external collaborators and production partners from pre-production to post-production and delivery.

  • Drive retrospectives and translate learnings into better processes for the studio.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years of experience in a design studio, branding firm, agency, or creative consultancy.

  • A  foundational understanding of brand identity, design thinking, and strategic storytelling.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - you can hold your own in conversations with clients and creatives alike.

  • Comfort with managing multiple projects without losing detail.

  • A knack for staying calm under pressure and bringing perspective when things get messy - addressing healthy conflict and constructive feedback where required.

  • A person who enjoys making sure everything (and everyone) is okay.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • A chance to work closely with leading founders and teams.

  • A chance to shape decisions for diverse brands across categories and stages of growth.

  • A warm, collaborative studio culture that values curiosity, craft, and initiative.

  • A passionate, supportive team that believes in looking out for one another.

  • Space to shape processes and influence how the studio runs.

If this feels like your kind of place, we’d love to meet you.
