Climate KIC is an organisation based in the EU that is working towards accelerating the transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient society. They came to us about a year ago, with an innovative new 3S Framework that they wanted to unveil to the world, in the form of an animated explainer video for their Climate-Smart Forest Economy Program.
The video explores the role of forests in a circular economy, and how we can best utilise forests, wood and timber to bring about balance and absorb carbon from the atmosphere.
Our role was to take all this information, distil it down to an understandable and absorbable script, as well as illustrate, animate and direct the entire film.

A GLIMPSE INTO THE PROCESS
Animation usually requires several layers of production that are integral to the process and its final outcome, but often go unseen. We wanted to showcase a little sneak peek into some of these layers.
The process begins with a rough storyboard, that gets refined into an animatic to understand the timing of each shot. Only after the animatic stage, does it go into final animation and texturing.
At TOD, we pride ourselves on working with people that really care about human impact in the world, and work towards making the world a more live-able, sustainable place to be.
Through innovative new methods and a commitment to the future, we learned a lot from the people at Climate KIC, and we hope this video gives you a better understanding of the importance and necessity of increasing forest-cover and recycling wood and timber products today.
