The Whole Truth’s purpose is to bring truth back to food. 
But the whole truth is that to set food right, the content consumed around food needs to be fixed too. Launched after the brand’s two-month hiatus from social media, Truth Be Told was an antithesis to content that was dictated by algorithms. 



Truth Be Told is a weekly health publication that creates long-form stories to explain complicated ideas around food and fitness in ways that help readers make better decisions. Our contribution to Truth Be Told is an editorial illustration, done each week to accompany the article.

IDENTITY DESIGN

The logo unit for Truth Be Told would also serve as a masthead for the newsletter. It had to embody the identity of the parent brand while staying true to the spirit of stellar journalism. Taking cue from the annotations at the core of the brand’s design language, we created 
a logo unit inspired by the neon colours of a highlighter.

TRANSLATING WORDS TO VISUALS

Our goal is to create each of the illustrations with an interesting perspective and a unique point of view or the ‘TWT twist’ as we’ve dubbed it at the studio. It’s what makes us show someone ‘snorting’ a bag of chips in the sketch around an article about addiction to junk food or the poster of an iconic movie getting a ‘pulpy’ twist to depict the saccharine reality of fruit juices.

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

In over 2 years Truth Be Told has published several deep dives around topics ranging from the evolving idea of health, running, continuous glucose monitors, veganism, and quite a few inspiring personal health and fitness journeys. With an illustration almost every week, we’ve created around 60 illustrations that set the tone for the article of the week for around 15k+ readers. Some of the most loved ones are those that feature the writer where we really try to capture their story or journey.

TBT-Case-study

Creating these illustrations is a process the team looks forward to every week. It gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves to visually interpret relevant conversations around health & fitness in a memorable way.
